WELCOME! The TRGA San Francisco Persimmon Open is proud to be hosted by the historic Mare Island Golf Club. The event is an Open competition to all golfers wishing to compete on the TRGA platform. Make sure to read over the TRGA basics, then, have a look at the official rules. All golfers will be required to use wooden drivers and fairway woods. Blade style forged irons for the event are also required as perimeter weighted irons are not permitted. Wedges may not exceed 56 degrees in loft. Long putters are not allowed. See the equipment rules page for further details. Conforming sets of irons and persimmon clubs are available for those who don't have access but would like to compete. Click here for details and available sets. The event will be a 36 hole stroke play championship. The golf course will be available for practice rounds during the week of the event. We have arranged for a complimentary practice round on Friday afternoon the day before the event starts. Official tee times will start at 10:30 for the opening round on Saturday morning April 25 and again at 10:30 on Sunday the 26th. Sunday's final round will be repaired based upon Friday's scoring. Official tee times will be posted here on this site Thursday the 24th after 7:pm and also at the golf course. A BBQ will be hosted by the Mare Island Golf Club after the round on Saturday, and a banquet for the awards on Sunday as well. There will be an official tournament ball, and all players will be given a complementary dozen before the start of play. A TRGA rules official will be on site. The TRGA rules are designed to be simple, fair, and encourage a brisk speed of play. Make sure to have a read of TRGA Basics In the event of a rules dispute within the group, the situation will be handled by the rules official after the round and his ruling will be final. There are no two stroke penalties in the TRGA so disputes are usually easily resolved. Remember, we are here to enjoy golf, reward good golf, play quickly, and honor the great game.
We look forward to seeing you on the Island! |
